Check your connection, pull to refresh, and try again. When a source cannot be verified, Groundswell intentionally shows an unavailable state instead of guessing.
Open iPhone Settings, find Groundswell, and confirm Location access is enabled. Core beach, trail, and alert information remains available without location access.
Open the content menu to report it or block its author. Blocking immediately hides that user’s community content from your view.
Please email us with the location, what appeared incorrect, and a screenshot if possible. For urgent danger, contact local authorities or emergency services.
Still need help?
Include your device model, app version, and a screenshot when possible.

Groundswell may use location data to show your position, nearby beaches and trails, and progress along a featured trail route. Location permission is optional and can be disabled in device settings. Groundswell does not continuously track your location.
If you create an account, we collect information needed for authentication, including your email address and account identifier. If you choose a public username, it appears with supported community activity instead of your email address.
When you submit a condition report or Local Chat message, we store the content, associated location or spot, account identifier when signed in, and an approximate timestamp. Groundswell uses Supabase for authentication and application data storage.
We use information to operate accounts, display community reports and messages, provide relevant location-based app features, moderate content, respond to support requests, and maintain the service. We do not sell personal information.
Groundswell uses third-party infrastructure and data services, including Supabase, map services, and public weather and marine sources. These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. Groundswell distinguishes official alerts, model estimates, and community-submitted information within the app.
Community content is retained while needed to operate the service. You can permanently delete your account in the app at Profile → Delete Account. This removes your profile and associated user-generated application data, subject to any documented legal obligation. Account deletion cannot be undone.
Groundswell is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Community
Help keep local conditions useful, respectful, and safe.
Report a community report or Local Chat message from its content menu. You can also block an author to hide their content immediately. Groundswell may remove content or accounts that violate these guidelines.
For an urgent physical danger, contact emergency services or the responsible local authority. In-app reporting is not an emergency service.
Account controls
You can complete deletion directly inside the app.
Sign in to the account you want to delete.
Read the confirmation explaining what will be removed.
Your account and associated application data are permanently removed.
Important safety notice
Groundswell is an informational tool. Always follow posted signs and guidance from lifeguards, park staff, the National Weather Service, emergency services, and local authorities. Community reports are user-submitted and are not official alerts.
